Recap of Root Cause Analysis Workshop at Tactical Air Support
On June 27, 2024, Lean Jax presented a workshop on A3 problem solving, DMAIC, and root cause analysis for our member organization, Tactical Air Support.
About Tactical Air Support
Tactical Air Support provides adversary support and military aviation training. Their services include aircraft modification, airwing training, and support services. The organization’s mission is to provide domestic and international “Center of Excellence” level training and advisory services in tactical aviation, while supporting U.S. interests, and providing meaningful career opportunities for our employees. It is our goal to support and train U.S. forces and partner nations with premium services.
Workshop Summary
Lean Jax presented participants from the company’s Production, Quality, Logistics, and Training departments with an overview of A3 problem solving, DMAIC, and root cause analysis analysis through a series of hands-on exercises. The group honed their problem-solving skills by surfacing critical pain-points, drafting a problem statement, discussing their organization’s current state, brainstorming contributory factors, and creating a fishbone diagram that identified and categorized the most likely root causes.
Next Steps
The participants are now tasked with verifying their proposed root causes, generating and prioritizing countermeasures that address each one, and developing an action plan that promotes an improved future state.
Thank you to Tactical Air Support’s Joe Moorhouse (Director of Training) for organizing this workshop and Kevin Ellington (Lean Jax Individual Member) for sharing his insight!
