A3 Problem Solving Course on August 18
Lean Jax is excited to conduct part six of our Lean practitioner certification series on June 18, 2021, live from the First Coast Manufacturer’s Association. In this session, we’ll cover A3 Problem Solving.
After completing this session, the participants are tasked with completing a final certification project that includes an A3, current state map, future state map, future state action plan; as well as implementing two lean improvement actions in one of their organization’s key value streams.
In the first week of October, each participant will report out to their classmates on these improvement projects to receive their certification. The participants have done great work throughout the training series and we know they will do an excellent job on their projects.
An A3 is a one-page (11 by 17) document that adheres to disciplined, scientific thinking (DMAIC) aiming to guide collaborative problem-solving efforts by helping individuals/teams gather and distill facts in a logical, straightforward format.
A3s not only serve as a structured Lean standard work approach for problem-solving but as a visual roadmap for all continuous improvement efforts.
The A3 problem-solving approach enables teams to follow the scientific method and improve their work through experimentation, direct observation, root cause analysis, brainstorming, and implementation, and follow-up.
After completing this training module, participants will be able to:
Recognize and distinguish between the 3 major categories of organizational problems.
Apply A3 problem solving to impactful areas in their organization.
Spot impactful problems and craft well-defined problem statements.
Grasp the current state of key processes and develop target conditions to significantly improve current conditions.
Incorporate value stream mapping into A3s.
Show cause and effect by applying analytical problem-solving tools throughout the A3 (5 Why’s, Pareto charts, Fishbone diagrams, brainstorming).
Analyze and solve problems at their root cause.
Identify, weigh, and select countermeasures to address each root cause.
Develop, deploy, and audit improvement initiatives with the goal of continuously achieving improved future states.
Lean Jax and FCMA will offer this Lean practitioner certification program again during the 4th quarter of 2021 and A3 Problem Solving is available to all Lean Jax members, so please reach out to us for more information!
