Visual management is a systematic method that clearly communicates the current state of all key processes in any area.

This system ensures that all team members understand their priorities, can quickly spot any abnormal conditions/constraints, request leadership support, and make impactful improvements to their work each day.

The most effective visual management systems (whether on-site or through virtual collaboration software) display the area’s daily, weekly, and yearly priorities; provide updates on backlogged, work in progress, completed, and parking lot tasks; showcase key standardized processes; track up to the minute performance (including any abnormal conditions); and contain visuals that summarize lessons learned on projects, escalate problems, and propose/execute improvement ideas.
