Lean Practitioner Certification Series Recap
Lean Jax conducted part six of our Lean practitioner certification series on May 6th, 2022: A3 Problem Solving. The class’s nine participants hail from the following companies:
🟢 Commercial Metals Company
🟢 Itel Laboratories
🟢 Rulon International
🟢 US Gypsum
Each participant has successfully completed the six required training modules, multiple coaching sessions, and assignments on the 8 wastes, 6S workplace organization, visual management, and standard work.
During course six, the participants learned how to apply A3 problem solving to their work. This topic included the DMAIC process, drafting problem statements, going to the Gemba, root cause analysis, and leveraging the 7 quality tools.
To receive their Lean practitioner certification, the participants are now tasked with passing a certification exam and completing a project portfolio within one of their organizations’ key value streams.
A completed portfolio includes the following items:
✅ Project charter
✅ A3 summarizing the improvement.
✅ Current state value stream map.
✅ Future state value stream map with action plan.
✅ Implementation of the action plan’s first phase.
✅ Live report-out presentation describing the experience.
Next Steps
By June 30, each participant will report out to the instructors, senior leadership at each company, and their classmates. Our instructors will visit each facility twice within the next month to assist the participants with their projects. The participants have done great work throughout the training series and are poised to make additional impactful improvements to their work.
